What Is Okay?

If you owned a dog how would you treat it? For everyone, this meaning could be different. Most people treat them like family members feeding them, taking care of them, and giving them a joyful life. Is that true for all thought? Not all live lavishly or are treated right but you see what makes having a dog or cat different from most animals is that they are a responsibility. That’s what brings the attachment or the feelings you have for them.  But explain to me what makes it different for any other animal? Just think people are killing animals all the time for humans to eat but have we ever thought of other ways of obtaining this thirst for food. Perhaps this will rap your mind around the thought of maybe trying something different or finding a more natural solution to our problems. People have no consideration for the fact that we feed to please ourselves, for enjoyment in life, but what are we really will to consider to bring others enjoyment and pleasure.

Many influential writers have brought up the fact that people are selfish and we will do anything to have what we want. One creature to take into consideration is the lobster, they have gone from holding a status of being considered rats of the sea to a delicacy right behind caviar.  Mr. Wallace expressed that “ Lobsters ‘ raise many questions about the practice we engage in as a species, our definitions of pain and suffering, and our understanding of the world around us.”

From many perspective humans are more stuck in a troubled middle, not knowing what to do or how to react.

The power of the human hand gives us the ability to make choices beyond any other species through communication or the knowledge we obtain through experience. People can make change great changes in the world but what they can’t see is that we won’t make any changes if they don’t benefit ourselves. Which is hard to believe but Jonathan Safran Foer  contemplates “Not believing in it whatever that would mean but willfully pushing the questions out of my mind.” This is a choice that humanity has made to subdue the fact that we abuse the powers we have for are better uses. Not only do we overuse but we also abuse the power we have from all of the learning and discovering people have done.

What Is Okay?

If you owned a dog how would you treat it? For everyone, this meaning could be different. Most people treat them like family members feeding them, taking care of them, and giving them a joyful life. Is that true for all animals? Not all live lavishly or are treated right but you see what makes having a dog or cat different from most animals is that they are a responsibility. Just think people are killing animals all the time for humans to eat but have we ever thought of other ways of obtaining this thirst for food. Perhaps this will rap your mind around the thought of maybe trying something different or finding a more natural solution to our problems. People have no consideration for the fact that we need to please ourselves, because of our selfishness we have taken the power of the human hand and put its uses for our own enjoyment in life. What are we willing to consider to bring others the same enjoyment and pleasure we get from the lives we live.

Many influential writers have brought up the fact that people are selfish and we will do anything to have what we want. One creature to take into consideration is the lobster, they have gone from holding a status of being considered the rats of the sea to delicacies right behind caviar.  Mr. Wallace expressed that “ Lobsters ‘ raise many questions about the practice we engage in as a species, our definitions of pain and suffering, and our understanding of the world around us.” Do we really understand the pain and suffering these creatures withstand or do we just push the thought to the side? From many perspective humans are more stuck in a troubled middle, not knowing what to do or how to react. One may say that we don’t react and we just push on and figure out what to do when the time comes but in the opinion of animal activist we should look at the bigger picture here. Hal Herzog questions whether it’s right to keep carnivorous animals as pets “ Is having a pet that gets its daily rations of meat … morally preferable to living with a snake.”

The power of the human hand gives us the ability to make choices beyond any other species through communication or the knowledge we obtain through experience. People have the ability to make significant changes in the world but what they can’t see is that we won’t make any changes if they are not beneficial to us. Which is hard to believe but Jonathan Safran Foer  contemplates “Not believing in it whatever that would mean but willfully pushing the questions out of my mind.” This is a choice that humanity has made to subdue the fact that we abuse the powers we have for are better uses. Unfortunately, humans push away the fact that we are abusive and that we overuse the “necessity” in life. If the world were to treat our food with more respect than just seeing dollar signs we wouldn’t have the issues that occur today like the antibiotic-resistant viruses or the chemically induced foods we eat. But because of the new technology or the better “knowledge” we have it makes it easier for people to subdue the wrong point of killing and look only at the positives.

When we created all the beneficial organisms we have today do you think they morally new what to do with the excess that could come to play? This gets you to query what may come out of this sentence but don’t stress it only may twist your stomach a bit. Hal Herzog pondered whether or not to use the excess as a way to feed what pets we have or other animals in general for example “ About 2 million unwanted cats … are euthanized in animal shelters… Wouldn’t it make more sense to make these carcasses available to the snake fanciers? … Yikes- I had inadvertently painted myself into a logical corner in which feeding the bodies of kittens to boa constrictors was not only permissible but morally preferable to feeding them rodents. But while the logical part of my brain may have concluded that there was not much difference, the emotional part of me was not buying the argument at all.” Thinking about this morally makes you feel that feeding cats, animals that we love and cherish to snakes is wrong but is it though? If we have this excess why not use it? Isn’t it just wasteful of us to just burn this into ashes when we can turn this into a resource for feeding animals we currently own or giving back to the environment? Well you see we have by composting, recycling and organizing the waste we have know but it’s not being properly maintained since they still don’t properly use the resources. Those are good examples but why compost the food when you could feed it to pigs or other animals you have or take the leftover dinner you had and give it to the dog. But you see that’s not morally correct the dog doesn’t the same things humans do.

That raises the question do we really know what’s morally right or do we just think we do? People all have different ways of coping with parts of life that can be a struggle such as being homeless, living alone or just having do things you wish you never had to. Some may think they have the answer to all of this but it’s complicated you can’t just have the answer. You have to work at it struggle a little, maybe even get knocked down but after a few times you’ll get right back up with no problem. This relates to the the abuse and overuse we inflict on the environment today. We have chosen a path that will lead us to destruction but there’s ways to fix it we just have to figure those out and maybe then we will use are powers more beneficial to all and maybe find the key answer to what’s morally right.

The Power of the Human Hand

If you owned a dog how would you treat it? For everyone, this meaning could be different. Most people treat them like family members feeding them, taking care of them, and giving them a joyful life. Is that true for all animals? David Foster Wallace in “Consider The Lobster” talks about how humans should consider the way they treat our natural resources. Not all are treated right but you see what makes having a dog or cat different from most animals is that they are a responsibility. That’s what brings the attachment or the feelings you have for them.  But explain to me what makes it different for any other animal? Hal Herzog in “Animals Like Us” talks about owning an animal that eats other animals. Just think people are killing animals all the time for humans to eat but have we ever thought of other ways of obtaining this thirst for food. Which reminds me of Jonathan Foer who became a vegan after a realization of the world’s abuse toward the animals that gave us the food we have today. Perhaps this will wrap your mind around the thought of maybe trying something different or finding a more natural solution to our problems. People have no consideration for others when it comes to pleasing ourselves, because of our selfishness we have taken the power of the human hand and abused it in regards to the treatment of animals for our own benefits.

Many influential writers have brought up the fact that people are generally more eager to push away the thoughts of animals pain and suffering. David Foster Wallace explains through the art of text, how we overlook the truth. One creature to take into consideration is the lobster, they have gone from holding a status of being considered the rats of the sea to delicacies right behind caviar.  Mr. Wallace expressed that “ Lobsters ‘ raise many questions about the practice we engage in as a species, our definitions of pain and suffering, and our understanding of the world around us.” From many perspective humans are more stuck in a troubled middle, not knowing what to do or how to react. One may say that we don’t react and we just push on and figure out what to do when the time comes but in the opinion of animal activist we should look at the bigger picture here. Which was something Jonathan Foer did, which is why he became a vegetarian. Mr. Foer had some monumental realizations during his childhood and adult life. As a kid being told that “ we don’t hurt family members. We don’t hurt friends or strangers. We don’t even hurt upholstered furniture. My not having thought of farmed animals in that list didn’t make them the exceptions to it. It just made me a child, ignorant of the world’s workings”(Foer pp2-3). A reason why people don’t tell their kids about farm animals because they don’t want them to picture themselves eating something that gets taken for granted. Human have taken these animals for granted way to long and why we feel the need to do is because the power of the human hand gives us this ability too.

The power of the human hand gives us the ability to make choices beyond any other specimen through communication or the knowledge we obtain through experience. People have the ability to make significant changes in the world but what they can’t see is that we won’t make any changes if they are not beneficial to us. Jonathan Foer is a prime example of how thinking in depth gives you a better idea of what’s going on, especially with the food we eat. Which is hard to believe but Jonathan Safran Foer contemplates “Not believing in it whatever that would mean but willfully pushing the questions out of my mind”(Foer pp3). As a person I believe that we condemn these thoughts so that it won’t affect the the way we eat. This is a choice that humanity has made to subdue the fact that we abuse the powers we have for are better uses such as trophy hunting or overfishing. These are prime examples of how we abuse our power because the resources are being used in a neglectful way. If the world were to treat our food with more respect than just seeing dollar signs we wouldn’t have the issues that occur today like the antibiotic-resistant viruses or the chemically induced foods we eat. As people’s knowledge advanced so did the technology, something in particular that was made to ensure the success of people is guns. Without guns people wouldn’t have the success they have know with subduing animals but because of them we are able to take the lives of animals way easier and quicker. Is this morally okay that people are able to do things without having to think about the consequence of their actions.

When we created all the beneficial organisms we have today do you think they morally new what to do with the excess that could come to play? This gets you to query what may come out of this sentence but don’t stress, it only may twist your stomach a bit. In “Animals Like Us” by Hal Herzog, he pondered whether or not to use the excess as a way to feed what meat eating pet we have or even give back to nature “ About 2 million unwanted cats … are euthanized in animal shelters… Wouldn’t it make more sense to make these carcasses available to the snake fanciers? … Yikes- I had inadvertently painted myself into a logical corner in which feeding the bodies of kittens to boa constrictors was not only permissible but morally preferable to feeding them rodents. But while the logical part of my brain may have concluded that there was not much difference, the emotional part of me was not buying the argument at all.” Thinking about this makes you feel that feeding cats, animals that we love and cherish to snakes is wrong. If we have this excess why not use it to benefit others or the animals we need to feed? Well you see we have by composting, recycling and organizing the waste but it’s not being properly maintained since they still don’t properly use the resources. Those are good examples but why compost the food when you could feed it to pigs or other animals. Humans have morals and most human morals are to eat, succeed in life and die. As we see though many of are morals have intertwined with how we treat the animals that provide us with food. This mentality is what brings up the question do we really know what’s morally right or do we just go with what we think is right.

People all have different ways of coping with parts of life that can be a struggle such as being homeless, living alone or just having to do things you wish you never had to. This relates to the the abuse and overuse we inflict on the environment today. As David Foster Wallace presented we don’t consider the resources we have and that we need to be more aware of the impact we have on the environment. Since we have chosen a path that will lead us to destruction,  there’s ways to fix it we just have to figure those out and maybe then we will use are powers more beneficial to all and maybe find the key answer to what’s morally right. Just like Jonathan Foer he found the greater good in life by subtracting meat and just eating veggies because he didn’t support the way we treated the meat we had. Or look at Hal herzog that talked about how people confronted him about questions that most wouldn’t feel comfortable answering. All in all people have become ignorant to what’s been done but as time moves on will hopefully become more aware and more mind full.
